Promoting self regulation in holiday rental management, industry operators have compiled a new industry code of conduct that will meet the needs of local communities, property owners and guests. Launching from 31 May this year, the new set of standards has been designed to address the impact of property amenities and factors from noise, over-crowding, garbage and car parking. Implemented as a “self regulatory” system, Stayz Group business development director Justin Butterworth said it will ensure rental properties provide a “real net benefit to the community while also enabling this important part of the tourism industry to develop sustainably”. “The short term rental of houses and apartments to holiday makers, business and educational visitors makes an important contribution to the local as well as the broader State and national economies,” Mr Butterworth said. Working with NSW Department of Planning and Infrastructure as well as DestinationNSW to develop the new Code, REINSW chief executive Tim McKibbin added that it will not only encourage responsible self regulation as well as strengthen the tourism sector. |
