Air Pacific’s Managing Director and CEO David Pflieger announces airline rebranding to Fiji Airways in Suva

Fiji's national carrier, Air Pacific says it will continue to revitalise the airline with a strategic plan that includes rebranding the airline to its 1958 name, Fiji Airways.

Announced in Suva yesterday by Air Pacific managing director David Pflieger, the move is the latest in a series of initiatives in the carriers 360 degree review and restructure which aims to reverse losses, improve schedules and network as well as investment in new aircraft.

The release of the new brand and logo will be unveiled in early July.

Part of the final phase of activities launched to revitalise the flag carrier to sustainable profitability, the rebranding will be evident on the new fleet of A330-200's which are due for delivery in 2013.

The new brand and colour scheme will be rolled out across the marketplace, ticket offices, check-in counters, airport lounges and the company's official website in the coming 18 months.

Mr Pflieger told e-Travel Blackboard that globally there is a high consumer awareness of Fiji as a holiday destination.

"Returning to Fiji Airways will better reflect our role as Fiji's national carrier, and also assist by growing Fiji tourism and interest in the nation," he said.

As Bula Fiji Tourism Exchange (BFTE) kicks off in Fiji today, e-Travel Blackboard is on the ground to get more important announcements on the airline and Fiji.
