Sydney couple experiences fairytale wedding and honeymoon in South Africa Sydney newlyweds, Sian and Rob Ashdown, are still on cloud nine after returning from South Africa where they were married at the amazing bushveld of Northern KwaZulu Natal. The couple, who returned to their homeland for the special occasion, and their guests enjoyed an exclusive intimate ceremony in a dry river bed, under an ancient fig tree and beautiful gazebo in the Rhino Reserve. “Our trip was magical and an absolutely surreal experience. Marrying Rob under the oldest fig tree in the Rhino Reserve, where two elephants and their baby calf grazed so close to us for the entire ceremony, was just incredible. They were so close we could hear their stomachs rumbling! “What other place in the world would this happen? South Africa is the perfect destination wedding location. Our guests enjoyed a once in a life time experience with the elephants, traditional Zulu dancers and a decadent dinner under the African stars,” said Rob. Following their fairy-tale wedding, the couple travelled to South Africa’s renowned Cape wine lands for their honeymoon. “My favourite parts of the trip were spending time with my wife doing amazing things like cycling through the Cape Point Nature Reserve, enjoying a romantic picnic and soaking in South Africa’s natural beauty, and strolling through Franschoek watching the sunset,” said Rob. “South Africa is so unique and has everything your heart desires. We were amazed and awestruck by the beauty and level of incredible hospitality, through to the kindness of the local people and how far the Australian dollar goes. I would recommend South Africa as a wedding and honeymoon destination in a heartbeat. We can’t wait to return,” concluded Sian.
