Queenstown has registered the largest guest nights increase in New Zealand for the month of July, according to Statistics New Zealand’s Commercial Accommodation Monitor (CAM). Both international and domestic travellers to Queenstown increased, up 7.4 percent and 6.5 percent respectively. Combined, overall figures for July revealed guest nights were up 7.1 percent year-on-year. “Excellent snow conditions coupled with increased air capacity, marketing and favourable exchange rates directly contributed to Queenstown's surge in guest nights for July,” Destination Queenstown chief executive Graham Budd said. “Conference and incentive business was strong throughout the month and Winter Festival was a great draw card, bringing extra visitors into Queenstown during the first week of July.” Hotels and backpackers witnessed the greatest increases in regards to visitor nights.
