French Travel Connection Managing Director Brad McDonnell is enjoying a serious winning streak.

Just days after he unveiled his company's largest ever France brochure in early September, his family's racehorse, Glencadam Gold, took off on a remarkable run that has now placed it as favourite to win the Caulfield Cup (October 20) and joint favourite for this year's $6.2 million Melbourne Cup (November 6).

The Gai Waterhouse-trained, five-year-old gelding was virtually unknown just a month ago, but since then Glencadam Gold has claimed victory in the Newcastle Cup and the Group One Metropolitan at Sydney's Randwick. He has now won all four of his races in Australia and is a genuine contender for "the race that stops a nation".

Brad says the 3,200m Melbourne Cup - which has been held since 1861 and is now the richest "two-mile" handicap in the world - will certainly bring the team at French Travel Connection to a halt.

"Things can change very fast in racing, but there's no doubt the next few weeks may well be very exciting!"
