Historical Japan Itinerary Highlights:

  • Visit Takayama, known as little Kyoto
  • Visit at the Kanazawa, famous for Japanese Gardens and Gold
  • Staying at a Japanese Traditional Inn (Ryokan) Experience
  • Plenty of free leisure time in Tokyo and Kyoto
  • Travel by coach halfway up Japan's highest mountain "Mt Fuji", to experience a spectacular view from a height of 2,300 metres. Enjoy a Japanese-style lunch. In the afternoon, proceed to Hakone Ropeway, visit Owakudani Valley and then a ride on a pirate ship on Lake Ashi.
  • Catch the bullet train from Odawara to Nagoya and then Limited express train from Nagoya to Takayama. Afternoon tour of Takayama, stroll through Takayama, visiting Yatai Kaikan Hall, where colourfully decorated traditional festival floats are displayed; Kusakabe Folk craft Museum, formerly the residence of powerful merchants under government patronage; and the streets of Kami Sannomachi, which preserve traditional Japanese wooden houses.
  • Takayama and Shirakawago 1 Day Tour, visiting the famous morning market of Takayama. Scenic drive by Lake Miboro and along Shokawa River to Shirakawago, designated in 1995 as part of the World Heritage. Its high lights are unique structures called Gassho-Zukuri. Then visit Gokayama, another World Heritage village, where you can experience Japanese paper making.
