British Airways says Aussie travellers hoping to hop on the Kangaroo route to Europe can still do so, despite the carrier's recent decision to terminate its 17-year Joint Services Agreement (JSA) with Qantas. BA has stressed it is “still committed to the Australian market” and is currently weighing up options for when its JSA with Qantas ends on 31 March 2013. Among those is the possibility of the development of numerous existing codeshares with Qantas throughout Asia and Europe as part of Oneworld. “British Airways is very proud of its long history with Australia and we remain committed to providing customers with the best of British service when travelling to the UK and Europe,” British Airways South West Pacific regional commercial manager, Neil Ager said. “We know we have many loyal customers in Australia, and they can continue to fly with confidence when they choose British Airways.” Meanwhile, BA said it would continue to fly its daily service from Sydney to London via Singapore, adding that customers affected by changes to the JSA would be contacted to discuss alternative arrangements. |
