A tourism commission for the NT is set to help revitalise the industry for the Territory’s 700 tourism related businesses.

Legislation for a Tourism Commission in the Territory has been steered through parliament in an effort to revitalise the industry for the Territory’s 700 tourism related businesses.
Minister for Tourism and Major Events Matt Conlan said the legislation will see Tourism NT reconstituted as a Commission.
Stating that the Commission will grow the tourism sector by bringing a new depth of expertise, Mr Conlan said the Government is determined to see the Territory marketed as one product, ‘The Northern Territory’.
Appointed Commission chair is Air North chief executive officer Michael Bridge, while long-time Territory tourism administrator Tony Mayell will join the board as chief executive officer in December.
“This is the first step in returning tourism to the powerhouse industry in the Territory that it once was.”
