50% increase in seat capacity and frequency for Australia

Thursday, 25 October 2012

Air Mauritius is pleased to announce the introduction of a third weekly flight to Australia to operate direct between Perth and Mauritius. The third weekly frequency starts April 2013.

The new flight represents a 50% increase in seat capacity to Australia. The flight will depart Perth every Friday, complementing the Sunday and Wednesday existing departures.

Andre Viljoen, CEO Air Mauritius commented “this new flight confirms Air Mauritius’ commitment to grow tourism and business between the two countries. The Australian market offers Air Mauritius great potential to grow our business and this additional capacity provides that vital link for economic and tourism development”.

Steven Palombo, Country Manager Australia says “the introduction of the third weekly flight, an increase of 50% in weekly seats, is much needed capacity to meet the airline’s growing demand. It also reflects the appeal of Mauritius as one of the world’s most spectacular leisure destinations, geographically positioned as an ideal stopover en-route to Africa, United Kingdom and Europe.

Air Mauritius now makes Mauritius and Africa more easily accessible. With greater frequency, a spread of operations throughout the week and a convenient afternoon departure time from Perth, our operations will provide greater options for our passengers. Our flights will allow for domestic connections across Australia in both directions.”

The flights will operate using an Airbus A330 aircraft in two class configuration – 24 seats in business class and 251 seats in economy class.

The new schedule also coincides with a change to the Australian flight numbers. The current flight numbers of MK941/940 change to MK440/441.
