Hertz Australia has again expanded its rental fleet, introducing for the first time new Volkswagen Golf hatchbacks and diesel-powered Passat sedans at key mainland locations.

The addition of Volkswagens to the fleet gives customers broader vehicle choices and enables drivers to add some European elegance to their rentals.

The introduction of two versions of the Golf - the 90tsi Trendline and the 118tsi Comfortline – gives more options in Hertz’s four-cylinder vehicle range while the larger 125tdi Passat Highline adds more choice in the Premium Full Size sedan category.

The new Volkswagens all feature spacious interiors along with 60/40 split rear seats, providing the option of more boot space for luggage or for ski gear and snowboards during winter. The vehicles also feature MP3 compatible sound systems, enabling travellers to easily enjoy their favourite music on the road.

The Passat features a luxurious leather trim and heated front seats, making it ideal for long or leisurely drives on the open road.

The six-speed Passat has four-doors and is powered by a 2.0 litre turbocharged diesel engine to maximise power while minimising emissions.

Both Golf models feature five doors and a seven-speed automatic direct gear shiftbox. The Golf Comfortline is powered by a 1.4 litre twin charged petrol engine, while the Trendline has a 1.4 litre turbocharged petrol engine.

Hertz is introducing the two Golf models for pick up and drop off at Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth Airports, while the Passat initially is available for pick up and drop off at Hertz offices at Melbourne Airport and Melbourne downtown.

The Volkswagens complement an extensive range of vehicles already offered by Hertz, from compact four-cylinder Toyotas to full-size Holden and Toyota sedans, Ford and Toyota SUVs, Mini Coopers from the Fun Collection and Mercedes Benz models from the Prestige Collection.

Hertz is the largest worldwide airport general use car rental brand, operating from approximately 8,650 locations in 150 countries, including over 200 locations in Australia.
