SIA, DJ start code sharing

Thursday, 9 February 2012

Singapore Airlines and Virgin Australia have announced the launch of their new code-share agreement, with agents and travellers now able to purchase tickets on the joint flights.

Unveiled yesterday, Singapore Airlines said the code-share increased the carrier’s reach into Australia from five Australian cities to more than 20.

“Our customers across the globe can now enjoy seamless access to more parts of Australia through Virgin Australia’s extensive domestic network,” Singapore Airlines executive vice president Mak Swee Wah explained.

“This opens up a wide range of itineraries to both business and leisure travellers alike, with the full-service convenience that customers expect of Singapore Airlines.”

As part of the alliance, the carrier’s frequent flyers can earn and redeem miles for Virgin Australia flights as well as receive access to the Australian carrier’s lounges.
