Virgin Australia’s operating figures for July and August 2012 reflect the efforts of the airline’s new strategic direction to deliver positive financial and operational results. Virgin Australia chief executive John Borghetti said the company’s return to profits was an indication that the Game Change Program, was “delivering positive results” despite external challenges. Domestic passengers carried year to date August increased by almost two percent, while yield growth also rose. Domestic Revenue Passenger Kilometres (RPK) jumped 3.7 percent for the year to date August. International passenger numbers grew by 5.1 percent and yield also increased. Available Seat Kilometres (ASK) on international services rose by 3.1 percent year to date August. The second phase of Virgin Australia’s Game Change Program; product and service enhancements, was announced last month. Virgin Australia also announced four additional services to support the AFL Finals Series this weekend. |
