London flights to be served by airline’s newest flagship aircraft and to operate from Heathrow Terminal 5
British Airways today announce enhancements to its service for Singapore. From the summer 2013 schedule all services between Singapore and London will move from London Heathrow’s Terminal 3 to the airline’s award-winning home in Terminal 5. In addition to this one of the two daily services on the route will be operated by British Airways’ newest aircraft - the Boeing 777-300ER – offering the airline’s latest on board cabin design in all cabins.
British Airways’ other Singapore service, BA011 from London and BA012 to London, will continue to be operated using a Boeing 747-400 aircraft. Both flights from Singapore will continue to leave in the evening and arrive in London in the early morning, allowing customers to have a full day in the city or to connect conveniently to onward flights to Europe and other destinations in the United Kingdom.
This year Skytrax named Terminal 5 as the world’s best airport terminal. Terminal 5 is also the gateway to British Airways’ extensive European network. T5 features six state-of-the-art British Airways lounges, including the Concorde Room for First Class customers and the Club World Galleries lounge complex. The terminal has over 100 retail and dining options, including Gordon Ramsey’s Plane Food and famous brands such as Paul Smith, Harrods, Tiffany & Co and Mulberry.
Jamie Cassidy, British Airways Area General Manager Middle East and Asia Pacific said: “The enhancements are great news for our passengers from Singapore. I am delighted that both services will now operate to/from our main hub at London Heathrow, T5 starting the summer 2013. The route also boasts having one of the services being served by our latest aircraft, a Boeing 777-300 ER.
“Arriving and departing from T5 allows passengers to have even faster and smoother onward connections. Premium passengers headed to London will have access to our impressive Arrivals lounge at T5, where they can freshen up and even get their clothes pressed before heading into town later in the morning. They will also be able to relax and get work done at our award-winning Galleries and Concorde lounges in T5 when they are leaving London.”
The ultra-long haul B777-300ER is the newest aircraft in the airline’s fleet. It is fitted with British Airways’ next-generation First class, as well as its new World Traveller economy and World Traveller Plus premium economy cabins. It also features 56 fully-flat beds in the ever-popular Club World cabin, named World’s Best Business Class at the 2012 Business Traveller Awards.
The aircraft has a range of 7,600 nautical miles and is also the “greenest” in British Airways’ longhaul fleet, generating 23 per cent fewer CO2 emissions per seat than the Boeing 747-400.
