The Qantas group’s operations picked up 2.9 percent more passengers in September this year compared to the same month last year. According to the airline’s monthly traffic report, the group carried 4,020,000 passengers during September this year, up from 3,905,000 year-on-year. Jetstar’s domestic experienced the highest growth within the group, with 14.5 percent more passengers carried, followed by Jetstar International with 12.5 percent more business. Qantas International saw its figures slide by up to 4.6 percent from 507,000 to 484,000 while Qantas domestic including QantasLink dipped by 2.8 percent from 1,897,000 to 1,844,000. For the full financial year to date, the airline’s passenger count is up 2.2 percent compared to the same period 2011. Earlier this week Qantas tinkered with its domestic operations, resuming flight between Sydney and the Gold Coast and increasing capacity between Melbourne and Hobart. |
