China Southern will increase the frequency of its new Canton route between Australia and London via Guangzhou, operating a daily service from October 2012.

The airline currently runs three flights per week on the route but will up the frequency to a weekly service due to escalating demand and rising passenger loads.

“We’re thrilled with the response we’ve received from Australians travelling on our new Canton Route to the UK,” China Southern regional general manager Australia and New Zealand Henry He said.

“With a three-hour stopover in Guangzhou, the Canton route takes as little as 26 hours to connect Melbourne and Sydney with London, while providing a more direct route.”

The operational changes will provide Australians with greater access to Europe.

“From October, China Southern will offer 21 direct weekly services to Europe and the UK via London, Amsterdam and Paris, providing Australians with access to any European destination any day of the week,” Mr He said.

The Canton route was officially launched in June of this year, allowing Australian’s to break their long-haul flight to Europe in China.
