Following the highly successful 'Get Swissed’ roadshow in April earlier this year where agents got excited about Switzerland and showcased their acting talents via home videos, Switzerland Tourism held its second instalment of their national roadshow last week. This time, a number of the Swiss partners came along to further educate agents on some of the country’s key regions, provide them with useful product updates and talk about popular year-round activities that encompass various adventure, food, family, shopping, culture and wellness interests. Swiss partners including Francois Michel from the Lake Geneva Region, Yan Baczkowski from Verbier St Bernard, Rayomand Choksi from Titlis, Mark Meier from Luzern, Daniela Fuchs from Jungfrau and Anil Rodricks from SWISS International were present to meet with about 300 agents from Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne and Canberra over the four day roadshow. They were also joined by Florence Pasquier and Richard Leonard from Rail Europe who encouraged agents to continue selling rail to their clients travelling to Switzerland and the rest of Europe. Switzerland has enjoyed a healthy and consistent year-on-year growth of Australians travellers visiting Switzerland (approx 15%); and for the last three years, Australians have contributed to the highest number of rail travellers in Europe. Director Australia and New Zealand for Switzerland Tourism, Evelyn Lafone, announced that their 2013 marketing strategy will focus on several key niche markets including food and culture, families, youth, scenic travellers and luxury. To better equip agents when selling Switzerland to prospective travellers, “Destination: Switzerland”, a professional sales manual has been launched. The manual is a comprehensive guide to various Swiss destinations, the best way to see the country via the highly efficient Swiss Travel System and also activities that take place throughout the year.
