Kuala Lumpur is well-known for its dominating cityscape, stunning street food and now, some of the finest shopping available the world over. The popular Malaysian capital can lay claim to some of the globe’s greatest shopping, after being recognised through two accolades granted to the city last month. Kuala Lumpur was ranked fourth in CNN’s survey on the world’s ten best cities for shopping and was also honoured as the second best shopping destination in the Asia Pacific by Globe Shopper Index, created by the Economist Intelligence Unit. CNN placed KL behind New York, London and Tokyo on their top ten list, ahead of established international shopping hubs such as Hong Kong, Dubai and Paris. The cities were judged in four categories; variety, value, transport access and overall experience. Globe Shopper Index said KL was the second best shopping city in the Asia Pacific region, ahead of 23 other destinations and outranked only by Hong Kong. “Kuala Lumpur’s shopping offerings have gone from strength to strength, with a variety of developments and special campaigns created to cement the city’s standing as a leading international shopping destination that not only offers a huge variety, but also excellent value and a great city atmosphere,” Tourism Malaysia NSW state director Mohd Roslan Abdullah said. |
