Cities and sunshine are driving school holiday bookings this spring, according to leading travel website Wotif.com. Melbourne CBD, Sydney CBD, Surfers Paradise, Brisbane CBD and Cairns are the preferred destinations over the next two weeks while New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland and South Australian schools all take a break. Wotif Group Executive General Manager (Australia/New Zealand) Joachim Holte said it’s not unusual for this time of year to see holidaymakers seeking cities and sunshine. "With the exclusion of capital cities, all remaining spots in the top 10 school holiday destinations this spring are beach or coastal locations,” Mr Holte said. “It's not surprising for this time of year, as the weather warms up and people are looking to dust off the winter skeletons in warmer climates, while cities always have plenty on offer to keep families entertained." Figures released also show that Victorians and New South Welshmen are sharing their spring holiday love with a few other states, while most Queenslanders are ‘backing their own brand’ and holidaying at home.
