Miss Universe New Zealand contestants are travelling Thailand on a goodwill venture in an effort to boost relations between the two nations. The Thai Foreign Ministry and the Tourism Authority of Thailand organised the week-long expedition in celebration of the 50th anniversary of His Majesty the King’s inaugural visit to New Zealand. “Thailand is becoming a more popular destination among New Zealanders with about 200,000 to 300,000 visiting every year,” Thailand's ambassador in Wellington Noppadon Teppitak said. The three Miss Universe New Zealand representatives visiting Thailand are Miss Universe New Zealand Talia Bennett, first runner-up Lauren Mann, and second runner-up Jennifer Lambly. The contestants are expected to share their experiences through social networks. Mr Noppadon said the visit may also encourage Thai nationals living or travelling abroad to return to Thailand.
