Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, has appointed Charles Morley to the role of Manager Queensland, based in Brisbane. Charles has more than 10 years’ experience in airline sales and marketing management. He has held key positions with British Airways, Royal Brunei Airlines and Air Nuigini where he was regional manager for Australia. He also worked with airline consolidator Concorde International Travel in its Brisbane offices between 2001 and 2004. The appointment of Charles Morley comes as the Abu Dhabi-based airline finalises preparations to increase its Brisbane flights from three a week to a daily service from February 1. Etihad Airways General Manager Australia and New Zealand, Luisa Pastrello, welcomed Charles to the airline’s regional commercial team. “Charles brings a wealth of industry experience to the role of state manager and, as a Queenslander, a vast network of business contacts statewide and a valuable local market perspective. “His appointment to the role recognises the importance of the state of Queensland to the airline’s business and Etihad Airways’ continuing expansion in Australia. “Linking Brisbane daily via Singapore with our hub in Abu Dhabi and beyond to our extensive global network puts Etihad Airways in a stronger than ever competitive position in Queensland and we are well on the way to growing our market share accordingly,” Luisa said. Charles joins the Etihad Airways Brisbane commercial team on February 4. |
