Tourism to Hong Kong has grown in the first eight months of 2012

Arrivals into Hong Kong continue to climb thanks to Mainland Chinese.

Securing its title as one of the fastest growing travel destinations, Hong Kong welcomed 20.5 percent more arrivals in August this year compared to August 2011.

The largest market into Hong Kong over this period was Mainland China, with a 27.9 percent increase in arrivals compared to last year, followed by visitors from North Asia at 7.9 percent growth.

According to the Hong Kong Tourism Board’s latest figures, up to 4.89 million arrivals landed in Hong Kong in August this year.

For the first eight months of the year, Hong Kong’s arrivals jumped to 31.5 million, 16 percent more than the corresponding period last year.

Representing 51 percent of all visitors, overnight stays picked up by 10 percent over the same month last year, while same-day visitor arrivals jumped by 32.2 percent.
