Applications are now open for the TIME (The Travel Industry Mentor Experience) Scholarship Program for 2013. Open to all industry professionals who have worked for a minimum of three years in the Australian travel industry, the TIME scholarship offers a valuable resource to industry professionals looking to develop their careers.
The Chairman of TIME, Penny Spencer of Spencer Travel, explains, “The TIME scholarship offers a fantastic opportunity to candidates looking to take that next step in their career. Thanks to the help of our Scholarship Sponsor, The Travel Industry Careers Association (TICA) we are pleased to offer a Scholarship to our 2013 program which commences in February.”
“Travel and tourism employees who do not receive employer financial support are eligible to apply for the TICA Scholarship. If chosen they will have $1,000 of the $1,500 participation fee paid on their behalf and the remaining $500 +GST to be paid by themselves.”
“The scholarship offers mentees the chance to participate in our six month program, where they gain valuable career knowledge and guidance from senior industry personnel as well the opportunity to attend networking events,” Penny adds.
To further assist mentees in financing their program fees TIME has also recently launched a part payment plan. Mentees can now make a monthly payment of fees with first payment to be received at least one month prior to commencement on the program.
Penny explains, “We want to make the TIME program accessible to as many people as possible. The scholarships and part payment plan allow us to do just that.”
The 2013 scholarship and part payment plan build on the current success of the TIME program which saw three of its graduates acknowledged in the recent Association of Corporate Travel Executives (ACTE) 3 Under 33 Program. Former TIME mentees Steve Farrelly, Vanessa Dal Busca and Jake Hower were all listed finalists with Jake Hower selected as one of three regional winners of the Program at the ACTE Asia Education Conference in Singapore. Jake now progresses on to compete in the ACTE Global Education Conference in Rome this month.
Commenting on the graduates’ success, Penny explains,
“We are thrilled to congratulate Jake, Steve and Vanessa on their success in the ACTE program. We are especially excited for Jake on reaching the global finals. It’s hugely exciting to see our own alumni achieve such career recognition and success.”
“TIME is now one of leading mentor programs in the travel and tourism industry and our alumni are a measure of that success. Our focus is to grow that success and help all our mentees reach their potential in every aspect of their career.”
Fresh from his win in the ACTE program, TIME graduate Jake is also encouraging fellow industry professionals to apply for the TIME scholarship.
“Being a recent graduate of TIME myself, I would recommend the program to anyone who is looking to develop their career. One of the unique benefits of TIME is that it’s tailored to meet the needs of each individual mentee, meaning the learning opportunities are endless.”
Entries for the 2013 TICA Scholarship are now open. Interested applicants are invited to complete the application form and the expression of interest form available on the TIME website: The closing date for applications is 21 October 2012. http://www.travelindustrymentor.com.au/index.php/scholarships
