Las Vegas cashes in on the publicity boom with campaign, ‘What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas’

Las Vegas tourism hit the jackpot with Prince Harry’s recent naked scandal, with a tongue in cheek campaign reminding visitors of the city’s unofficial code: ‘What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas’, the Vegas Sun reported.

According to the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA) the value of publicity that came from news coverage of the scandal and an online campaign, viewed by an estimated 154 million people, is approximately USD$23 million.

The campaign condemned the leak of the naked pictures, urging visitors to keep hush-hush about wild Sin City weekends.

LVCVA board chairman Tom Collins said “God bless Prince Harry, he made us a bunch of money.”
