South Africa Tourism Roadshow 2012

Most people don’t get the chance to tick off all of the items on their travel bucket list. But a trip to South Africa will have you well on your way to achieving exactly that, says South African Tourism.

Spreading the word of the Rainbow Nation’s diverse tourism offering, South African Tourism has this month taken to Australian cities with its South Africa Tourism Roadshow 2012. On Wednesday night, it was Sydney’s turn.

Note: South Africa doesn’t just want to feature on your bucket list; it wants to virtually own it. And after witnessing testimonies at the event by rugby legend George Gregan, television personality Frankie J Holden and videos by filmmaker, Tim Charody, few of the 300 travel agents in attendance would have left wanting to go anywhere else.

Hosted by MTV personality, Verushka Darling, the event showcased the best of the country’s diverse tourism offering: from bungee jumping and shark diving, to safaris and wine tours; from early morning surfing in Eastern Cape to late night partying in ‘Joburg’.

South African Tourism General Manager, Australasia, Lalie Ngozi told e-Travel Blackboard at the event she hoped travel agents in particular walked away from the roadshow “feeling more informed about what South Africa has to offer as a destination, and more importantly, being able to talk about what the nation has to offer – in addition to safari”.

“To show them what else can be done in South Africa and just how much more diverse and fabulous the country is,” she said.

Caught up in the fun (and music by Australian Idol finalist and South African-born Barry Southgate), e-Travel Blackboard was on hand to witness the transformative magic of the Rainbow Nation.
