Murray Wins Top Tourist and Caravan Park at Victorian Tourism Awards

The Murray Regional Tourism Board (MRTB) congratulates RACV Cobram Resort for winning the Hanging Rock Winery Award for Tourist and Caravan Parks category at the 2012 Victorian Tourism Awards (VTA) last night.

Held at Palladium at Crown on Monday 19 November, the VTA received 15 Murray entrants from across the region, including 12 operators participating in the program for the first time.

MRTB CEO Mark Francis is delighted that operators from the Murray are being recognised state-wide for their high standard of business excellence and innovation.

“RACV Cobram Resort is a testament to the high quality tourism experiences on offer right across the Murray region and MRTB is proud to see them recognised as the very best Tourist and Caravan Park in the state.”

The following entrants were acknowledged for exceptional submissions as Finalists in their category:

  • Sun Country on the Murray - Tourism Marketing
  • Echuca Paddlesteamers - Victoria Tourism Industry Council Award for Heritage and Cultural Tourism
  • Moama on the Murray Resort - HOSTPLUS Award for Standard Accommodation
  • Barmah Forest Heritage and Education Centre - Crown Hotels Award for New Tourism Development
  • Greater Shepparton Visitor Information Centre - City of Melbourne Award for Visitor Information and Services

“First time Murray entrants Aspen Parks - Boathaven Holiday Park, Kids Fest, Red Golf, Southern 80's Waterski Championships, Winter Blues Festival submissions were also outstanding given this was their first year being involved.”

RACV Cobram Resort will go on to compete nationally at the Qantas Australian Tourism Awards in February 2013.

The MRTB works in partnership with Tourism Victoria, Destination New South Wales and 15 local government areas with an aim to enable more effective development of tourism within the Murray region.
