Darwin’s Fort Hill Wharf welcomed Celebrity Cruises’ newest addition to the Australian market this morning when Celebrity Solstice sailed in at 7am. The 2,850-passenger ship celebrated her fourth birthday on 23 November when she departed Singapore on a 16-day voyage through Asia to her new home for the summer. At 317-metres long, the youngest superliner to be based out of Australia is also the second largest, behind sister-line ship Voyager of the Seas that arrived earlier this month. Featuring half-an-acre of real grass in her Lawn Club, Celebrity Solstice also features a glass-blowing studio and live shows, exclusive AquaClass accommodation and is now the highest rated cruise ship to be based in Australia according to The Berlitz Guide 2012. She will sail on 17 voyages out of Sydney, Perth and Auckland calling into 28 ports in seven countries and is expected to carry over 30,000 passengers during her inaugural season.
