leader
for Asia Pacific

CWT Meetings & Events, a global leader in events and meetings management, announced that Steven Smith is appointed senior director, CWT Meetings & Events, Asia-Pacific. Smith will be part of the CWT regional leadership team, based in Singapore and the global CWT Meetings & Events team.

Kelly Kuhn, president CWT Asia Pacific said, “The meetings and events market represents increasing business opportunities and significant growth potential in the Asia-Pacific region. With a strong global focus on this sector, we are committed to investing in our meetings and events organization through both people and technology”.

Earlier this year, Floyd Widener was appointed global leader for CWT Meetings & Events. His appointment provided further strategic and operational leadership for CWT’s meetings and events business around the world. Smith and Widener will be working together to give Asia-Pacific customers access to CWT Meetings & Events’ global services, world-class tools and processes, while further developing specific regional expertise and best practices.
Widener commented, “As our customers continue to keep a close eye on cost control, they are increasingly looking for strategic managed meetings policies and programs that drive both results and savings. Over the past year, our global meetings and events activities have seen double-digit growth*; we’re expecting this to continue into 2013, with the Asia-Pacific market looking particularly strong. “

Smith has extensive knowledge of the events industry and has worked in Europe, Asia, the Middle East and Africa. He joins CWT from IQPC, a global organization which produces over 2000 conferences, seminars and learning programs annually worldwide. Most recently, Steven was based in Singapore as managing director responsible for expanding the presence of IQPC in China.  A British national, Smith has a BA Hons in French with International Studies from University of Warwick.
