South African Airways (SAA) has further strengthened its management team in Australia with the appointment of Gary Hilt as Sales Manager, WA, SA & NT.

According to SAA’s Country Head for Australasia, Tim Clyde-Smith, Gary’s appointment marks a return to the airline after more than four years, when he was based in Sydney.

“We’re delighted that Gary Hilt is returning to SAA this month,” Tim said.

“With Western Australia a very significant market for us, having someone of Gary’s deep industry knowledge and experience is critical as we continue to strengthen our business in Australia and New Zealand. We’re also seeing good business from SA and NT which Gary will look after,” Tim said.

“Gary’s previous experience at SAA is a big benefit for us as he knows our culture and strengths as Africa’s leading airline and is familiar with our product and service offering,” Tim said.

“In the West we have a very large VFR and recreational tourism business as well as a highly successful and growing business market, especially within the mining and resources industry.” he said.

Gary said he was very excited to be re-joining SAA.

“With its unique place as the leading carrier to Africa and a growing network both on the continent as well as to destinations like South America, SAA’s position is unique in offering customers a complete travel solution,” Gary said.

“And coming back to SAA is a real thrill as more and more Aussies want a different holiday experience and are looking at Africa as providing such a unique and unforgettable travel destination,” he said.

Before re-joining SAA, Gary worked with JTG as National Sales Manager for Harvey's Choice Holidays and The Cruise Team.

“Gary joins us today and we very much look forward to working with him again,” Tim concluded.
