Sunny Australia, home to the Rainiest Place in the world

Thursday, 20 December 2012

If you thought that London was the rainiest place on Earth, then you would be mistaken, by quite a bit.

According to the World Meteorological Organisation, London is the seventh rainiest destination in the world with 162 rainy days, an entire wet season away from the crowned winner.

Australia’s very own Macquarie Island, located approximately 1,500 kilometres south-east of Tasmania, halfway between Australia and Antarctica, came in first with an average of 307 rainy days per year.

Wadi Halfa in Sudan was found to be the least rainiest place with no significant rainfall recorded.
