Chinese travellers on the rise

The Chinese outbound market is booming, with statistics revealing the number of Chinese mainland residents travelling overseas has surged to 38.6 million.

According to recent statistics the outstanding figure is for the first six months of this year, up 19.75 percent year on year, Reuters reported.

The top five travel destinations included Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, South Korea, and Japan.

On the other hand the number of foreign visitors travelling into China increased by 4.6 percent year on year in the first half.

With most visitors arriving from South Korea, Japan, US, Russia, Malaysia, Vietnam, Singapore, the Philippines, Mongolia, and Australia.

According to the Bureau of Exit and Entry Administration the total number of mainland residents, Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and foreigners crossing the border during the first half was around 76.7 million, 105 million and 26.78 million respectively.
