Luxury tourism has evolved: Luxperience

Monday, 10 September 2012

The definition of luxury has taken on new meaning in the travel industry, according to Luxperience chief executive Rosemarie Sama, who said the sector had evolved to include more than just luxury.

Speaking at the launch of the inaugural Luxperience showcase in Sydney yesterday, the event’s head said the term luxury has expanded away from the traditional in-room flat screen TVs and dining, to a broader definition that includes “unique” experiences and adventures.

“What was luxury is no longer considered luxury but is now an expectation,” Ms Sama said.

“[Nowadays] luxury travel is all about unique adventures and experiencing things the way others haven’t while remaining luxurious and authentic.”

She explained that the Luxperience showcase would not only build a supporting platform for the evolving sector but also create an environment to allow those with a passion in the market to meet and connect.

Launching in Sydney yesterday and running until 12 September, Luxperience is designed to provide luxury and high end experiential travel industry buyers with a means to meet their matching suppliers.
