Incredible India roadshows

Wednesday, 3 October 2012

Incredible India is launching a new drive in the Australian and New Zealand tourism markets this week, declaring it is open for business all year round.

Tourism officials led by Mrs Usha Sharma, Additional Director General Tourism, Indian Ministry of Tourism, will convene three important events in Auckland, Melbourne and Sydney to highlight the new push. And tourists from Down Under will find it much easier to fly to India with Air India re-establishing flights to Sydney in 2012.

Australia is increasingly a strong tourism market for India having made it to the top ten countries for international tourist arrivals in 2011. India has a strong cultural appeal with an increasing focus on fashion, adventure and wellness.

Traditionally, India, New Zealand and Australia have had strong cricketing and education ties.
In conjunction with the Pacific Asia Travel Association, Mrs Sharma will lead a delegation of up to 20 tourism industry leaders and stakeholders who will showcase the various tourism products of India to the Australian and New Zealand markets.

The roadshow will include presentations by the Ministry of Tourism to enhance the product knowledge of the prospective buyers (Tour Operators/Travel Agents).

The B2B Meetings between the buyers and sellers will provide an opportunity to the Indian delegates to interact with the Tour Operators/Travel Agents, marketing destination companies in Australia and New Zealand and share information on the new destinations/ tourism products that need to be promoted in these markets.

The Indian delegation includes representatives from Taj Hotels, the ITC group and an Ayurveda hospital.

Australia is a favoured destination for the India traveller. Last year India ranked number 10 in terms of tourist arrivals into Australia.

The visit of Mrs Sharma is aimed at understanding the Australian market better and getting a first hand view.  India is an excellent choice for the Australian traveller for everything from a 3 day stopover to a four week holiday.

The roadshows will be held:
01 October’12 Auckland. The Langham Hotel
03 October’12  Melbourne. Park Hyatt Hotel
05 October’12 Sydney. Four Seasons Hotel
