WhatsApp

Monday, 15 October 2012

A blended SMS and chat system, WhatApp was designed as an alternative to the traditional messaging system to keep people communicating on a cheap and easy platform.

A pun on the slang term, ‘What’s up’, WhatsApp allows people from across the globe a space tap into their Smartphone’s 3G network to send and receive free messages, photos, sound recordings and videos.

Once downloaded to your phone, users simply search through the phone’s phonebook for contacts already using WhatsApp.

From there a contact is selected and the first can message can be sent through.

As well as keeping people in contact – the App also notifies users when their message has been received and read by the person on the other end.

Why We Love It

The App had ETB hooked after realising it was designed to not only host one-on-one chats but also group chats.

Whether you’re looking to update the family on an outing or planning a get together with old friends – WhatsApp is perfect tool to keep everyone in the loop with one simple text.

Another plus for the App is the beauty of being ad-free. Creators of WhatsApp said when designing the App they did it with the aim of making it clear of any products looking to distribute their brand on the next big thing.

As a result, the speed of the App is consistent and not weighed down by product advertisements.
