Hawaiian Airlines will commence nonstop flights between Brisbane and Honolulu, Hawaii, three times weekly from November 28, 2012, becoming the only US carrier to fly to the Queensland capital.

The new flights will connect in Honolulu with same-carrier, same-day services to the neighbor islands of Maui, Kauai and Hawaii Island.

As well as supporting the Brisbane / South East Queensland market, the new flights will add convenient new options for passengers travelling from elsewhere in Queensland, and from interstate destinations including northern New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia and Tasmania.

“Australians love Hawaii, and our decision to introduce three flights per week from Brisbane to Honolulu reflects the strength of the Queensland market,” said Hawaiian Airlines President and Chief Executive Officer Mark Dunkerley.

“The new flights will build on the success of our existing service between Honolulu and Sydney and strengthen our offerings as the leading airline between Australia and Hawaii,” he said.

Hawaiian’s new Brisbane services will add more than 40,000 seats annually between Australia and Hawaii, and increase the airline’s total seat numbers from Australia by 38 percent.

Mr. Dunkerley said Hawaiian’s new flights would offer travellers from Queensland a superior way to experience Hawaii and that Sunday departures in particular would open a range of opportunities for the weekend weddings and honeymoons market.

Other attractions of Hawaii include world-famous Waikiki Beach, Pearl Harbour, the USS Missouri Memorial and big brand shopping on the gateway island of Oahu, as well as a vast range of natural attractions on Oahu and the neighbor islands.

Hawaiian Airlines flight HA 444 will depart Brisbane at 6:35pm every Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, cross the international dateline and arrive in Honolulu at  8.05am the same day, a journey time of approximately nine hours 15 minutes.

The return service, flight HA 443, will depart Honolulu at  10.20am every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, cross the international dateline and land in Brisbane at 4:00pm the following day, in time for onward connections to destinations throughout Australia.
Hawaiian’s Brisbane flights will be operated with Boeing 767-300ER aircraft, seating 262 passengers in a two class cabin – 18 in Business Class and 244 in Economy Class.

Hawaiian Airlines already operates daily Airbus A330-200 services from Sydney.

Brisbane Airport Corporation Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director Julieanne Alroe applauded the announcement, which makes Hawaiian Airlines the 27th airline to serve Brisbane.

The Business Class cabin is configured with three rows of 2 x 2 x 2 seating, while the Economy Class cabin in configured in a 2 x 3 x 2 seat layout, ensuring that most passengers receive a window or aisle seat.
