The Murray Regional Tourism Board (MRTB) took pleasure in welcoming new members Fiona Corcoran and Simon Wetherill as skills based representatives on Wednesday, 17 October. Former Chief Executive of List A Barristers Corporate and Head of Business Development at Piper Alderman, Fiona Corcoran specialises in governance and business development in the corporate and non-profit sectors. Simon Wetherill is currently the Chief Executive Officer of the State Sport Centres Trust, comprising the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre (MSAC) and MSAC Institute of Training (formerly Melbourne School of Sports & Recreation Management) in Albert Park, the State Netball Hockey Centre (SNHC) at Royal Park as well as the Lakeside Stadium in Albert Park. In addition to his extensive management experience, Simon has developed five major ‘greenfield site’ sporting facilities in Melbourne. MRTB Chairman Geoff Kelly is delighted with the appointment of Fiona Corcoran and Simon Wetherill to the board. “MRTBs new board members bring outstanding private industry experience and will provide invaluable assistance for generating investment in tourism product and infrastructure to the Murray Region,” Mr Kelly said. Concurrently, CEO of Gannawarra Shire Rosanne Kava was appointed as Murray River Group of Councils representative while Councillor of Murray Shire Gen Campbell was appointed as a RAMROC representative for three years. Mr Kelly thanked outgoing board representatives Tracey Cooper, Andrea Lucas, Mark Henderson and Dianne MacFarlane for their valued contributions in establishing MRTB over the past two years. MRTB works in partnership with Destination New South Wales, Tourism Victoria and 14 local government areas with an aim to enable more effective development of tourism throughout the Murray Region. |
