James Thornton has been appointed to lead Intrepid Travel after the company’s 23-year reigning managing director, Geoff Manchester announced he will step down to focus on other areas of the business. Unveiled this morning, the wholesale Group revealed the current commercial director and general manager of sales and product will step into the head role from 1 December this year, bringing with him more than seven years of experience with the company. Intrepid co-founder Darrell Wade said Mr Manchester would work closely with Mr Thornton over the coming months to ensure a “smooth transition” in leadership. “We’re delighted to have appointed James Thornton as a strong successor from within the business, and we’re confident that he will lead the Intrepid Group to new heights,” he said. Still playing an “integral role” within the company, Mr Manchester will focus on responsible travel, leading The Intrepid Foundation as an ambassador at industry, business and promotional events. |
