Blue Star Line World Director of the Titanic II Project, Baljeet Singh, has announced that Australia’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, John Dauth, will be attending the Titanic II gala black-tie dinner in London.
The dinner, which will be held at the National History Museum on December 1, 2012, in honour of Titanic both past, present and future, will be attended by former world leaders, royalty, Lords and Ladies of Parliament and celebrities.
Ms Singh said Mr Dauth, a career diplomat who has been High Commissioner to London since 2008, would be the official Australian government representative at the London event.
“We are bringing together some of the world’s most influential people to honour the history of Titanic and celebrate the future of Titanic II,” Ms Singh said.
“There will be a charity auction on the night with proceeds going to the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.
“Guests will enjoy the same menu as first class Titanic passengers did on April 14, 1912, and a collection of original items salvaged from the Titanic will also be on display at the Natural History Museum during the event.”
Blue Star Line has undertaken the task of building Titanic II, a replica of the original namesake, which is scheduled to set sail from Southampton to New York on her maiden passenger voyage in 2016.
