The Jetset Travelworld Group (JTG) has been advised by NSW Fair Trading to discontinue many of its contract’s terms and conditions, following heavy scrutiny in the recent CHOICE Shonky awards. Consumer advocacy group CHOICE has revealed that four of the eight recipients of 2012 Shonky Awards are now under investigation by NSW Fair Trading in light of their questionable business tactics. The JTG clause being questioned requires consumers to waive their chargeback rights for payments made via credit and debit cards. JTG made amendments to their terms and conditions, removing any mention of the word “chargeback”. Despite these changes, CHOICE believes JTG is still asking clients to renounce critical consumer protection. The other three groups under investigation are Liquipel, Nature’s Way and Samsung. |
