Topdeck kicks off 40th birthday celebrations with a trip down memory lane

Monday, 3 December 2012

Leading youth operator Topdeck has kicked off its 40th anniversary celebrations early by giving a group of Flight Centre agents a trip down memory lane in an original double decker bus.

The lucky agents were treated to a ride in a 1964 double decker called “Robbie” from Central Station to Blues Point reserve overlooking Sydney Harbour, followed by dinner and drinks at the historic Woolloomooloo pub, The Old Fitzroy.

Robbie was named after one of the first Topdeck drivers and was used during the 70s and 80s on trips to Europe, Africa and the Middle East. The bus is owned by Bill James, one of the founding members of Topdeck, and came to Australia from Europe in 1998.

The event was held on November 20 and was the first of a series of birthday bashes that Topdeck will hold in celebration of its 40 year milestone next year.
