Naankuse Foundation and Eukanuba partnership

Wednesday, 19 December 2012

We are delighted to announce that Eukanuba have recently confirmed a partnership with The N/a’an ku sê Foundation in order to support the work we are doing with the African wild dog (Lycaon pictus).  In July 2012 Dr. Wolf and the Eukanuba team visited the N/a’an ku sê Sanctuary, just outside Windhoek, Namibia; with an interest in the conservation work we are involved in concerning the African wild dog. The species is classed as endangered on the ICUN Red list of threatened species, with only around 500-800 left in Namibia. The sanctuary is home to 15 African wild dogs, which include a litter of 13 who were dug out of a den in the Mangetti area and two older dogs who are not part of a distinct group. The N/a’an ku sê Foundation is involved in some interesting research regarding this species and are working closely with the Ministry of Environment and Tourism and other conservation bodies in order to preserve the African wild dog for future generations through applied field research, collaboration with landowners and preservation of existing free-ranging animals.

Eukanuba and N/a’an ku se are working in partnership and every bag sold of Eukanuba dog food in Germany from 1 Dec- end Feb will provide one days care for one of our African wild dogs. A minimum of 25,000 Euros has been generously promised from Eukanuba for our African wild dog project.
