More than 29 million passengers travelled through Melbourne Airport during the 12 months ending November 2012. In the month of November, there was a 10 per cent increase in the number of passengers travelling through Melbourne Airport reaching 2,593,252 and taking the annual passenger figure to 29,118,390. International passengers grew by 6 per cent during November 2012 to reach 579,645 passengers. Countries with strong growth in passport holders for November 2012 compared to the same time last year included Hong Kong which grew by 21 per cent, Sri Lanka by 23 per cent, India and Fiji by 15 per cent, Malaysia and Taiwan by 14 per cent, the Philippines by 13 per cent and China by 8 per cent. Domestic passengers increased by 11 per cent resulting in a total of 2,013,607 domestic passengers.
