Charity meets holiday in Stayz Give & Getaway

Friday, 15 June 2012

Australia’s leading holiday rental site Stayz.com.au, are hosting their third annual Give & Getaway for Charity holiday auctions. For 50 days from the 15 June to 3 August, in collaboration with generous property owners, Stayz will auction off 50 beautiful holiday rental getaways with 100% of the winning bid proceeds donated to CanTeen and the RSPCA.

Over the 50 day period, an inspiring holiday rental getaway will be auctioned each and every day, with getaways varying from 5-night mid-week stays to 2 or 3 night weekends. All holiday auction bids will start at $50, and registered participants will be able to bid in $10 increments. The properties span a wide variety of holiday destinations across Australia, from Queensland’s Sunshine Coast to New South Wales’ South Coast, from Launceston in Tasmania to Victoria’s famous Great Ocean Road, plus there’s a wide range of properties available including beach houses, country cottages and even an eco-friendly permanent tent.

Roz Taylor, CanTeen’s National Partnership Manager said:  “CanTeen is delighted to be part of the Stayz Give & Getaway. Funds raised for CanTeen will give young people living with cancer, and their families, the opportunity to have their own getaway from the daily stresses that they experience in the hospital and the home as the result of a cancer diagnosis.

“Every year in Australia, thousands of young people are suddenly confronted with a cancer diagnosis, whether it is their own or that of a parent, brother or sister. CanTeen helps young people learn how to deal with the emotional, physical and practical issues of living with cancer so they can take back control of their lives. CanTeen is also committed to providing support to the families of those who have been affected by cancer, so that no young person has to go through cancer alone. Every successful getaway bid for CanTeen is an investment in the future of young Australians who are living with and have been affected by cancer.”

Heather Neil, CEO of RSPCA Australia said: “RSPCA cares for more than 150,000 animals each year and investigates 50,000 complaints of cruelty and neglect. With less than three per cent of the RSPCA’s operational funding coming from government, we rely on the generosity of Australians to keep our doors open and we are incredibly grateful for Stayz’ support. Funds raised through this initiative will support the work of the RSPCA in caring for and re-homing animals, investigating cases of animal abuse and cruelty and campaigning for stronger animal protection laws in Australia.”

Anton Stanish, Stayz Group General Manager adds: “Over the past two years, we have raised more than $130,000 from the auctions, so we are very excited about this year’s campaign. All campaign proceeds will be directly donated between both charities, so we’re urging people to get online, find a great holiday rental getaway and support these worthy causes. We have some amazing properties on board this year and of course, the charity auction would not be possible without the generosity of our property owners who have kindly donated a stay at their holiday rental in support of these great causes.”
