This Monday December 3 marks the beginning of one of the most important weeks of the year for Brisbane – it’s the week of the B105 Christmas Appeal, it’s the week Brisbane saves little lives.

Marking its 18th year, and almost $11 million in monies raised, next week B105’s Labby Stav & Abby will broadcast live from four different locations around greater Brisbane, culminating in the live broadcast from the Royal Children’s Hospital in Herston on Friday, truly a celebration of a city’s generosity and one radio station’s long-term commitment to raising money for sick kids.

Last year, the B105 Christmas Appeal for the Children’s Health Foundation funded 56 pieces of equipment and six research projects in the Royal Children’s Hospital. Overall the B105 Christmas Appeal has supported every department in the hospital and has funded over 500 pieces of equipment, dozens of research projects in the areas of burns, oncology, respiratory and infectious diseases, as well as funded broadcasting equipment and other entertainment in the Wonder Factory.

The Royal Children’s Hospital treats around 37,000 kids each year which equates to 280,000 hospital admissions. The B105 Christmas Appeal is an important event in Brisbane’s calendar, it’s the heartbeat of the city, it’s the way so many thousands give back each year, through the Children’s Health Foundation.

The weeklong Appeal, hosted by Labby, Stav & Abby, already has support from Australian and international celebrities.  “Luke Perry – who recently visited Australia – has donated his personalised Hollywood Chairback, a real piece of memorabilia, while Ricki-Lee, Big Brother’s George & Angie, Brisbane Heat players, Corey Parker from The Broncos and swim sensation Emily Seebohm will all be joining us next week,” said B105’s Labby.

Labby, Stav & Abby will also be taking over Coles stores for the B105 Christmas Appeal – they will man the registers at a different Coles store each day next week from 10am.  People will still pay for their shopping but ALL MONEY THAT GOES THROUGH Labby, Stav & Abby’s REGISTERS will be donated to the B105 Christmas Appeal.  On Monday they will take over registers at North Lakes Coles; on Tuesday, it’s Coles at Corinda; Wednesday at Coorparoo (that’s also Labby’s local Coles) and on Thursday, it’s Coles at Everton Park.
