Singapore’s Changi Airport has announced it will increase its Passenger Service Charge (PSC) for departing passengers from $S13.90 to $S19.90 effective 01 April 2013. Changi Airport Group (CAG) said the new passenger service charge would apply to tickets purchased from 01 November 2012 for travel on or after 01 April 2013. Once adding the $S8.00 Passenger Security Service Charge (PSSC) and the $S6.10 Aviation Levy imposed by the Civil Aviation of Singapore, passengers departing Singapore as of 01 April next year will have to pay a total of $S34.00. According to the Changi Airport Group the revision will assist fund new investments required to cater to growing passenger traffic and the airports increasing aeronautical costs. “Over the next five years, CAG is committed to a more than S$2billion expansion and enhancement programme at Changi Airport to sufficiently cater for capacity growth, preserve and improve service levels for airport users through end-of-life replacements and operational efficiency improvements,” an airport statement read. Two new developments include the expansion of Terminal one and the development of the new Terminal 4, which will increase handling capacity by 30 percent from 66 million to 85 million passengers per annum. |
