Melbourne Airport experienced the highest monthly number of passengers during October this year, with 2.608 million travellers touching down in the Victorian port. According to the airport’s monthly statistics, there was an eight percent increase in arrivals during October this year, compared to the same month 2011. International arrivals for the month picked up by 5.1 percent over the same month last year, while domestic passengers increased 8.4 percent. Melbourne Airport chief executive Chris Woodruff contributed growth to increased capacity from international airlines including; Emirates and Singapore Airlines. “Each international flight that lands at Melbourne Airport contributes just under a quarter of a million dollars in visitor spending to the Victorian economy,” Mr Woodruff said. |
