Skyscanner research has revealed significant increases in flight searches from Asia to Australia, indicating Australia’s new tourism campaign is garnering positive results. China reported flight searches were up 190 percent year-on-year, while Japan saw an increase of 116 percent, Malaysia 281 percent and the Philippines up 140 percent. Other Asian countries including India, Vietnam, South Korea and Indonesia all reported increased growth in this area. Tourism Australia unveiled its $250 million global marketing campaign, ‘There’s Nothing Like Australia’ in Shanghai in June. “China’s interest in Australian travel is strengthening rapidly year-on-year,” Skyscanner market development manager for Australia Dave Boyte said. “In May, the number of tourist visitor arrivals from China to Australia hit 50,000. We have also seen overall growth in searches from all over Asia.” “What we are seeing at Skyscanner underlines the importance of Tourism Australia’s marketing efforts across the continent.” The Tourism Australia internet and television commercial has been downloaded more than 18 million times in China since its inception. |
