Changi Airport operations upturn

Singapore’s Changi Airport has reported strong year-on-year growth in the areas of passenger movement and air traffic, according to the airport’s operating indicators.

The airport encountered 49.3 million visitors, up 10.3 percent compared to the previous year, while air traffic movement rose 12 percent to 318,000.

During the month of July 2012, Changi Airport experienced a 4.5 percent increase in passenger movement and a 4.6 percent upturn in air traffic operations.

Cargo shipments at Changi Airport fell 4.5 percent year-on-year during the month of July 2012.

In related news, Malaysia Airlines' low-cost carrier Firefly has begun operating flights between Singapore and Kota Bahru as part of a new four-weekly service.
