Tahiti’s national airline Air Tahiti Nui (TN) has entered a codeshare agreement with American Airlines (AA) starting 10 September and opening the airline’s network to more than 15 cities throughout the US.

The codeshare agreement allows AA to place its code on TN flights between Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and Papeete Faa’a International Airport (PPT).

TN using AA flights will now fly to major cities in the US including New York, San Francisco, Las Vegas, Chicago, Boston, Dallas Fort Worth, Miami and Washington D.C..

American’s Strategic Alliances vice president Kurt Stache said they were excited to launch the relationship to codeshare with TN and offer customers more options through seamless access and combined networks when travelling to the South Pacific region.

Air Tahiti Nui chairman and chief executive officer Etienne Howan said there would be added visibility of Tahiti to North America through the partnership.

“It will also make it easier for tourists to discover our beautiful and romantic islands of Tahiti, Moorea or Bora Bora, only eight hours from Los Angeles,” Ms Howan commented.

“Tahitian passengers will also benefit from fast and easy connections across the United States.”

Redemption of frequent flyer miles with AAdvantage for award travel is allowed on TN.
