Air Pacific Appoints Andrew Stanbury as Regional General Manager of Australia

Thursday, 13 September 2012

Air Pacific, Fiji’s national airline, is pleased to announce the appointment of Andrew Stanbury as Regional General Manager of Australia, with responsibilities for oversight of all of the airline’s commercial operations in Australia.

Andrew is an experienced senior manager with over 15 years of management experience in sales, marketing, customer service, and airport management roles at Air New Zealand and other NZ based carriers.

For the past four years Andrew has been based in Australia where he was the Head of Sales, and Head of Corporate and Alliance Sales for Air New Zealand.

Andrew will commence his new role as Regional General Manager of Australia on October 2nd when he will take over from retired Air Pacific veteran executive Victor Sharan.

“We are excited to have Andrew joining Air Pacific and our new management team--especially as we get ready for our new fleet of wide-body Airbus A330s and begin rebranding and re-launching our airline as 'Fiji Airways' next year.  Andrew's breadth of experience, knowledge of the market and trade, and his strong commercial acumen will be invaluable to us in Australia as we move into the final phase of our restructuring and revitalisation and work to establish even stronger relationships with our key partners in the trade.  I am looking forward to welcoming Andrew to his new Sydney-based role" said David Pflieger, Air Pacific’s Managing Director & CEO.

Air Pacific revitalisation efforts resulted in the airline recently announcing its  first operating profit in three years, and it has also announced plans to revert to its former 1951 name, 'Fiji Airways', and relaunch the airline to coincide with the delivery of brand-new A330s that arrive in March, May and November of 2013.
