Following in the footsteps of Baz Luhrmann and Leonardo di Caprio, Accor recently hosted 50 PCOs and corporate clients to a Great Gatsby-themed famil that showcased the best of Manly.
In a bid to lure conference organisers from the city to the beach, the day began with a sail across Sydney Harbour aboard an America’s Cup yacht, with a pod of dolphins escorting them all the way. Once on land, the guests enjoyed a treasure hunt around the beachside town followed by a tour of key offsite locations and venue options including Little Manly Beach, Manly Yacht Club, Queenscliff Surf Club, Q Station and the Sebel Manly, after which the group enjoyed cocktails at sunset at the International College of Management.
With the recent acquisition of Q Station and Sebel Manly, Accor now offers a combined total of 400 accommodation rooms and 28 conference, meeting and ballrooms, providing an opportunity for larger conferences to really take over Manly and enjoy a variety of inspiring events. Accor has also signed a strategic partnership with Destination Manly to help position Manly as Sydney’s leading business events destination.
The day ended with an elaborate Gatsby-themed dinner in the very room used by Baz Lurhmann to film scenes in the movie, with all the glamour and glitz of the roaring 20s – although, unlike during Prohibition, the drinks flowed freely. And while Leonardo di Caprio was unable to attend, all agreed that Manly was really the star of the day.
